NEEDED: SEVERAL CATECHISTS
As the Faith Formation program grows in numbers so does the number, faith and competence of our teachers.  We still need a few more catechists for September. On Sun at 9:00-10:15 we need 4th grade and 7th grade (Confirmation 1) teachers.

On Mon. at 5:15 we will have at least 42 First Communicants in grades 2-6 and only one teacher.

On Mon at 7:15: we need 8th grade (Confirmation 2) and High school Conf 1 and 2  teachers.

Student aides are always needed.

REGISTRATION FOR FAITH FORMATION FOR 2018-2019   
Registration forms in English and Spanish for Faith Formation for the next school year, 2018-19 have already been distributed.  Forms can be found in the Church, on the website, or picked up from the Faith Formation or Parish Offices.  There is a sizeable discount for early registration.  Classes begin on September 16-17, 2018.  It is imperative that your children are registered BEFORE then, so that classes progress smoothly for them and for everybody. FAITH FORMATION ODDS AND ENDS
• The calendar for 2018-19 is completed.  If you have already registered, please pick up a hard copy or ask for one to be electronically sent to you.
• Bible classes are being held during the summer for students in grades 8-12 who did not have the 6th grade curriculum.  Notices have been sent.
• Also if you child missed 7 or more classes during 2017-18 expect a call to make up the material.

NEEDED during the summer:  a catechist with some knowledge and love of Scripture to do workshops with older students who have missed the Scripture class.  Contact the faith formation office.

If the celebration of Christmas has you thinking about becoming a Catholic or made you realize that you have never received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation, we are happy to announce the good news that we are again beginning classes for this very purpose.  Contact the Faith Formation Office at 301-949-2336 or faithformation@stjuderockville.org to schedule an exploratory appointment.

It has been 4 years since we began the Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 10:30 Sunday Mass for children ages 4-10.  Fortunately, the 5 founding ministers have continued to serve, but sometimes it becomes a little burdensome when family schedules change or when we have 60+ children.  This is a call for more adult helpers to team up with existing ministers and “learn the ropes.”  You would not be on your own with the teen helpers until you are comfortable. STUDY THE PROPHETS IN ADULT BIBLE STUDY
It is not too late to join our Fall Bible study on Thursdays at 7 pm in the Faith Formation Office.  This semester we will concentrate on the Prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel etc. using the Great Adventure Bible series.  Cost of materials is $20.  Scholarships are available.

Notice to all new families:  The preparation for First Communion is two years.  The preparation for Confirmation is three years: Scripture, Confirmation I and Confirmation II..  Students in the 8th grade and above can do the preparation in two years with summer classes on Scripture.
