In the Pastoral Constitution On the Church in the Modern World, the Church reminds us that “the laity are called to participate actively in the entire life of the Church; not only are they to animate the world with the spirit of Christianity, they are to be witnesses to Christ in all circumstances and at the very heart of the human community.” One of the most beautiful ways we can fulfill our God-given duty and responsibility to animate the world with the spirit of Christianity and to be witnesses to Christ is to be active in the life of our parish as a Lector, as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, or as a Catechist.
Our Lord is relying on all of us to be his co-workers in building up His Kingdom on earth. Being a Lector, and extraordinary minister of the Eucharist is an extreme rewarding personally enriching way to assist in the mission of the Church which after all is the salvation of souls.
There are no special requirements or experience required for any of these ministries, just a love for our Lord. Each of us has been given a talent to share, don’t bury it! To learn more about the ministry of Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion or Catechist please contact Fr. Foggo, Judi Rowles, or Jane Soberano. Now is the time to listen to the voice of our Lord calling you, do not be afraid!
